Juicing for Health & Wellbeing

I just need to declare right now that I am a big juicing enthusiast!  So much so that I have even written a book with tips to get you juicing, after experiencing the many benefits of juicing fruit and vegetables.

Don’t get me wrong, I also enjoy daily smoothies (i.e. blended fruit and veg) especially as a breakfast meal replacement.  Often blending a banana with frozen berries and a green powdered boost such as spirulina, quick and simple!

However, the power of juice doesn’t even compare for me physically, as like most Fit Mammas I have a high-energy lifestyle with kids, work and juggle many things, so I need to function at my max.  I love the vibrancy and energy I receive from juicing, as it passes to your body’s cells releasing nutrients very quickly.

Also with our modern diet, modified food and restructuring of the environment, the food we consume even before we’ve began cooking it to death, is already void of vital vitamins and minerals.  Therefore, juicing is a great way to ensure we consume a variety of vegetables in their raw state with lots of nutrients keeping us well, beautiful and energised as possible!

So here are my 10 benefits for why you should juice…

  1. Juicing provides your body with essential vitamins and minerals to keep your body functioning and keep you well. So you can deal with your mummy duties and life with ease!
  2. Juicing helps prevent the onset of disease, illnesses and supports your immune system. Keeping you well for longer and away from child bugs.
  3. Juicing provides important nutrients to keep your body looking and feeling healthy: skin, eyes, hair, toenails and more!
  4. Juicing (along with a healthy and active lifestyle) will help with weight management and loss.
  5. Juicing will help you consume fruit and vegetables which you don’t necessarily eat but can easily drink, thus increasing your fruit and veg content. Providing you with more vitamins.
  6. Juicing as a raw way to consume vegetables provides important enzymes which will help your body feel more alive and full of energy and vitality.
  7. Juicing will help alkalinise your body and reduces the acidic state that may give rise to deficiencies e.g. skin issues.
  8. Juicing a variety of fruit and veg will help different colours work together to create a greater vitamin boost.
  9. Juicing will help detox and cleanse your body from a variety of toxins.
  10. Juicing may help to increase your performance, muscle recovery and hydration, if you’re involved in regular exercise or physical training.

So hopefully you agree that the benefits far outweigh the aggro of cleaning and assembling your juicer!  If you would like a book with lots tips and recipes you can purchase my pocket size book The Grab and Go Juicer.  Juicing for Busy People on Amazon for only £4.99. Lots of tips for busy mums like you!

Two last tips  – try not to include more than two fruits in your juices because of the sugar content, ensure the majority of your juice contains vegetables, use the fruit just to sweeten the taste.

Cucumbers are a good base to juice as they are tasteless but provide lots of liquid.  Try 1/2 cucumber, apple, spinach & ginger!
