That Girl in the Dark #Poem

Are you that girl in the dark?

Crying into her pillow after laughing all day, in the night.

Are you that girl in the dark?

Hiding behind her smiles, afraid to radiate her bright light.

Are you that girl in the dark?

Battling internally with herself because she’s afraid of the courage needed to

fight.

Are you that girl in the dark?

The unseen, meek, lacking in confidence & self-worth shadow in the night.

Are you that girl in the dark?

Whose limited faith in hope help keep her frenemies in sight.

Are you that girl in the dark? Are you that girl?  ARE YOU THAT GIRL?

Don’t be afraid, it’s time, come with me and step into your light.

How many of us are that girl?  How many of us have been that girl or know her?  There are many women, girls who have experienced or are experiencing internal battles, (me included) which stop them from fulfilling their dreams, aspiration and living their hopes.  Rarely it isn’t just external circumstances which are limiting us, but more the internal courage, faith and strength to preserve on, despite our fears and unknowns.

It takes a tremendous amount of strength and determination to plough though like a Mind Warrior, especially when there may actually be little or no support or encouragement around us.  Digging deep when we are feeling low or empty can be a battle we feel unable to even fathom.

We may be plagued by feelings of low self-worth, self-esteem or confidence, which help fuel feelings of ‘lack’ or not being good enough.  Recently I was watching a woman sing on X Factor and part way though the song she just stopped.  The judge was like, “honey what’s going her?”  She paused then began to cry and said, “I just don’t feel good enough to be here!”  Hearing that most people may have been confused because she was obviously ‘good enough’ as she had made it on the show, qualified out of thousands and was through to the third round.

But sometimes it doesn’t matter how many times we hear it, we have to also feel it, experience and know that we are good enough, that we are enough.  The process is not easy and make take much soul searching, shedding layer, after layer to reveal where these perceived limitations actually stem from, parents, life experiences, childhood, school, relationships…  Sometimes we actually forget why we hold such limiting beliefs, carrying it around into adulthood and birthing children still holding on to these beliefs.

But how long will we continue to be plagued by these demons, our inner critic ‘The Bitch’ as I like to term her.  The Bitch is doing nothing for us, like an unwanted friend who continually criticises us all day, stops us from doing nice things for our -self, courageous things, fearful things, successful things.  We need to break this bond, question her, slap The Bitch down and move her to the back because she isn’t our friend!  Her fears are unwarranted.

We have to be the glorious creatures we were truly meant to be.  We need to radiate our light brightly, stop shrinking small, making others feel comfortable or happy.  We need to love our-self more, hold our sisters hand, reach out and take a step into the unknown.

What have we got to lose?  Pride, embarrassment, failure…

Whenever we stay too comfortable, our growth and progress also stops, we must continually try to push our limits, find our edge, in order to carry out our soul purpose, our soul desires.  Be and do what we came here to do.  We owe it to our soul and to the world.

Continue to shine your bright light regardless of who it blinds.  Make them pick up sunglasses or move the hell out of your way!!!

You’re coming through, rising regardless!
